“Clash of the Choirs” Opening Number is a Winner

(‘CLASH’ PREMIERE TOPS ABC’S ‘DUEL’ DEBUT IN ADULTS 18-49, TOTAL VIEWERS, PLUS ADULTS 18-34 AND 25-54 AND ALL KEY ADULT-FEMALE DEMOS

Maria Clash of the ChoirsBURBANK, Calif. – December 18, 2007 – The opening numbers for “Clash of the Choirs” put the new series #2 in its time period in adults 18-49 and total viewers and #1 among adults 18-34, according to updated “live plus same day” viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. “Clash of the Choirs” solidly out-delivered ABC’s rival debut of “Duel” in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings categories.

Last night from 8-10 p.m. ET, “Clash of the Choirs” (2.4 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and in total viewers and #1 in adults 18-34.
In head-to-head competition from 8-9:30 p.m. ET, “Clash of the Choirs” topped the debut of ABC’s “Duel” in adults 18-49 (2.4 for “Choir” vs. a 2.1 for “Duel”), total viewers (7.7 million vs. 6.7 million), adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult female demographics.

From its first to its fourth half-hour, “Clash of the Choirs” built by 17 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.7/7 from a 2.3/7) and by 1.1 million persons, or 15 percent, in total viewers (to 8.8 million from 7.7 million).

At 10 p.m. ET, “Journeyman” (1.5/4 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) tied for #2 in adults 18-49 and ranked #2 outright in total viewers.

Updated 18-49 averages for Monday night are: CBS, 3.3/9; NBC and Fox, 2.1/6; ABC, 1.8/5; CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, December 17 updated results are: CBS, 10.6 million; NBC, 6.7 million; Fox 6.7 million; ABC, 5.2 million; CW, 1.5 million.
